When I was getting my business degree in the 1990's I took a class, either a marketing class or communications class, that we read a book and did a report for the class. The main idea I learned from the book was that a customer will leave a business and tell a certain number of people about his or her experience, either good or bad. I think the number was 25. Then each of those people told 25 more people. See how it mounts, like a pyramid? Look how many people are upset with whatever brand or quality of service. We have told each other, we will talk to others, and they will relate experiences. It boils down to, the retail businesses are more interested in their bottom line, and they forget that a part of the bottom line is the customer that contributed $15.00 for a hat, $25,000.00 for a machine, $50.00 for some gaskets, or picked up a free brochure. Retail businesses have lost touch with the needs and expectations of the customer. The customer is the only one who makes a bottom line for a business to exist. Yes, with all the numbers, and reference to bottom line, I majored in accounting :-), another subject my wife doesn't want me to talk about besides engine repair.
