When you think about it, what part of a tractor is so badly rusted it can't be sanded down to bare metal? The sheet metal is the greatest problem in my experience and you will be spending time sanding down those parts anyway. Grease is usually a bigger problem on the frame, drawbar etc. but at least grease keeps things from rusting. My advice, for what it's worth, start cleaning (as in steam cleaning and/or pressure washing) and scraping and wire brushing and see what you have when you are all done. I'll bet you have little or no rust to worry about. Wheels rims are another matter and the biggest solution to wheel rim rust problems is to remove the solution (that is, calcium chloride) and wire brush and sand and clean till the cows come home. I have used the rust converter products before on larger projects ( a horse trailer) and they work pretty well, but the rust comes back after a few years. Maybe the rust converter products would be a natural for rims. I think I'll try it next time. .
