first thing I always do is change to neg ground, Neg lead of battery to ground, make sure neg post of coil goes to points [dist lead], use the same coil and go to parts store and get resistor for a 56 or 57 ford car or pu, change leads on ameter or live with it reading backwards, if you don't want to get a resistor just get a coil with a built in resistor. I don't know what year ford went to a neg ground system, but a lot of early tractors were positive ground, also with this switch you are ready to use a 10 or 12 SI delco reamy alt,Ford cars want 9.6 volts at the coil would expect tractors to be same. It will not bother your starter unless your tractor starts hard, needs a lot of cranking, enjoy lites that do, quick starting,
