I believe that Gehl experimented with that concept back in the late 1970's. Drawbacks were noise closer to the operator and so-so blower which could come up short hitting the back of the wagon. When the blower had issues it meant material all over the tractor including the radiator/fan area. Even when the blower was working fine the cooling system was affected by drifting debris from the chopper assembly. Oncoming vehicle visibility was considerably reduced while traveling down the road so the idea was canned. Somebody built a front mounted side delivery rake for chopping or baling but once again you had plant material pushing into the radiator. If you caught a woodchuck hole hard then the implement sustain considerable damage. That was in North America so I could not tell you what the Europeans were doing and if they had any success.
