: I have heard that the widest belly mower that you can sucesfully use on a Cub can be no wider than a 48". Has anyone had any success useing anything wider? I would like to put a 60" belly on and use it on fairley flat terrain. : Also what is a Flail Mower? Stan,
Mott made a very good "hammer knife" or "flail" mower for the Cub. It consists of little L shaped blades swinging free on a horizental shaft. They are held out by centrifical force. The Mott will do an excellent job on grass and leaves a very smooth cut, it has a full width roller on the rear like an old reel mower. However, it will not handle weeds as well as the Woods type mower. I believe the Mott was built in both 48" and 60" models for the Cub. The Cub will nandle a 60" Mott good in short grass, but if you let your grass grow real tall you better stick with 48" max width. The 42 " Woods works good in all conditions. Harold H
