First, I wanted to thank everyone who responded to my post last week about what to look for when looking at a 2 cylinder Deere.
I went to look at the A first, since it was closer to home. Got there, tractor started good and ran well. No play in clutch, etc. Overall good shape. However, I wasn't impressed with the narrow front. Guy that has it has a bottomland farm so he doesn't worry about it. Decided to pass on it. Went to look at the 60 next, but no one was around, so couldn't start it. In good shape but had a couple oil drips, no big deal. Had rockshafts for 3 point hitch, but no lift arms or connecting arms. Tried to call seller with no luck. So that was how that went.Bad (good?) thing is, I probably would've bought the 60 had someone been around.
Oh well. Went home a different way and saw a really nice Super M on a dealer lot, with Power Steering, Wide Front, and 3 point. Going to call on it a little later today. I can live without live power, but the hydraulics and lift are necessary for me. Which is what knocked the A out and made the 60 questionable. I also found a 37' A on this site that I'd like to own, for a decent price. But its almost 500 miles from here, and I don't think I'd ever justify the trip.
