In 1967 one of my high school classmates got a new 67 Vette for being, well, their kid. It had the big engine (not sure which one) and was fast. We went to Abilene one night, about 150 miles away. He drove down and I drove back. Didn't take long at all, cruising around 110 or so. However, I saw this yellow car coming up behind us. It was an XKE with a little guy smoking a pipe. Passed us like we were doing 20 and left us behind. I tried to catch him but things were in his favor. That Vette was not going to catch that Jag. Not that night.
The fastest I have ever driven was 143 (radar verified, don't ask...) in a 61 Plymouth that was a surplus highway patrol car that never saw service. Wish I had it back, it was ugly and fast.

And I think Dad was ready for some automation too. And so it was that we acquired a good, used J. I. Case, wire tie hay baler. In addition to a person to drive th
