Schramm tractors????

Took an afternoon off work Friday and went on a stress-control/tractor hunting trip, riding around in the puckerbrush of Eastern Maine. Got to put a number of new entries in my Tractor Spotting Notebook and spotted one I have never heard of. It's a standard tread, four cylinder gas, and it says SCHRAMM in raised letters down the center of the grille. The paint that's on it is a sort of sky blue, and is either original, or a very good, but very old, re-paint. The steering box sits on top of the transmission and the shaft comes up at about a 45 degree angle. The seat hangs out behind the differential. It has full tinwork (what would be called "styled" on a JD or an IHC) and at a guess, I'd say 40's or 50's. I'm just curious, has anyone got any information on such a tractor? I took some pictures, and when I get them developed, I'll post them to my site, or email them to anyone who is interested.

George bought his Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00. There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken by Harold alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that the major was produced late 19 ... [Read Article]
