Yeah, they do. Every year. But I agree with rabbit. Seems awfully early. We got one years ago during November rifle season, had already lost one and second broke off in my hands. Was infected and we thought why the early drop.
A few years back I had seen a good sized buck with nice but very mis-matched antlers. One was pretty much normal 4 points, other was 2 points and drooped way down toward the front - very heavy. Told my hunting partners to try to get him if he showed up. Wanted to see up close. No one saw him during season, or afterward. Next summer I was brush hogging off a hay field hit something. Thunk! On next round I stopped to see what I hit. Found the distorted antler and just a few feet away, found his other antler. Dropped both in the same spot. Still got them.
