Actually, that would be the Mohawk, but I know what you mean, Fort Edward Dam, to the Federal Dam in Troy, the dregding operation is now a few years in.
Years ago, the Hudson was a filthy sewage contaminated high turbidity river. I have fished in it many years later, water was clear, and things were a lot different, but that sediment layer of PCB's released by the idiots at GE, when they broke up that dam in error back in the 70's, well GE has been made accountable for it, still not sure how well this clean up is working, thinking about what has to occur, always see jobs for long/odd shifts advertised.
Shame, because this river was a great source of fish, I would not eat a one out of that river, especially when I can go to a unmolested fresh water reservoir a few miles away and know nothing has been dumped into it, being a municipal water supply, its perimeters are protected and are mostly forest.
I worked for a site contractor in Passaic NJ, briefly, definitely a heavy industrial area, can't imagine whats gone into that river over time, I would not give too much praise to that area either, the job sucked too, worst maintained junk I ever ran, well except my own junk LOL !!!!
