Wherther you go farthur and how to proceed largly depends on your goal as far as commercial or home use. To establish a commercial vinard you would be wise consulting with local grape growers to choose varity. Growing grapes is part sience,a little bit of art plus some luck.
To raise a few for personal use,I suggest, Planting bare root vines in the early winter. Container grown plants tend to be ahead of established plants due to being better protected all winter and plenty nutrantants. Growing a few vines on post supported two wires makes it very straightfoward and easy to use high row covers.
I have experimented with grafting onto local wild root stock. Fruit quility usualy falls short of nursury stock but production , hardieness to weather, disease and pests is better. Using this system with improved Muscadines consistantly whip nursury stock in all respects. Muscadine are well suited to our local climate conditions and wild vines found growing in the area are adapted to soil conditions.
Regardless of type grape you grow, heavy pruning every year is required for maxium quility of fruit.
There are several fruit easier to grow. Blackberries come to mind as one.
