A friend of mine has decided to plow his 40 acres of bottom ground. It has a thick layer of sand under the top soil from a flood many years ago. I rode several rounds with him today. A one bottom pull type plow. He is pulling it behind a 9300 John Deere with duals all around and about 5000 of added weight. The Deere was having traction problems so he has a 7930 on front pulling the 9300. I think all total the 2 tractors should weigh around 50000. We measured the furrow today and we were going around 36 inches deep. I think the plow weighs around 5000 lbs. It was doing a very nice job of plowing but we were only doing around 1 acre per hour. It is not going to be a cheap job. Going around 4 mph. He hopes to bring up some good dirt from way down under. The biggest one bottom plow I had ever seen. The 1 bottom by itself is about 4 feet tall.
