I bought the pickup for a beater 4 years back from a coop, it has the 7.3 and a auto tranny that I had rebuilt 14k miles back by a reputable tranny shop. It had been wrecked and the steering column was worse for the wear. I've replaced it twice, first time the column from the bone yard was similar but the wiring didn't match up quite right. Now on the 2nd replacement and did fine for 6 months, a couple weeks ago I started having off and on trouble with it starting with the switch but could get it started by jumping over the solenoid. I figured I get around to replacing it soon, then the problem went away for a day or two...then it started dying at idle but would start right back up...so I thought fuel filter. Now the sucker cranks but doesnt start and my wait to start light doesn't come on when I turn the key. ALSO it will crank in neutral.
I plan to start with a solenoid and have read about the safety switch on the transmission case, which I plan to try adjusting or replacing. Anyone have any experience like this with one of these pickups?
