Did you hurt it? I don't think so. What is the noise? My theory is with the hubs in you're spinning everything in the front end, one the COAST side of the drive line. On my 83 Ranger Ford recommended running around a few miles each month with the hubs locked in to splash oil around and lubricate stuff. I ran around with 'em locked in most of the winter (in Upper Michigan 6-8 months) didn't seem to mess up anything, used more gas and put more wear on the front end but it was better then being stuck.
