: : I saw below a lot of posts on Scrapping. I part out some tractors that are somewhat past the point of running again. The parts are used to make other tractors run again. Does this come under the heading of Scrapping? : Not in my book. A scrapper is just that; a person interested in metal for it's scrap value. A person who takes the time and energy to reduce a non-viable machine to it's component parts for re-use is providing a valuable and much needed service. Not to mention allowing others to continue using/restoring their old machines at a reasonable cost. There is a vast difference between scrapping and parting-out. Long live the recyclers! I agree with this sentiment. There has been an interesting dialog on this topic in the neighboring N-Board. There was a spicy exchange on the merits of parting out tractors versus restoring them, I think some hackles got raised before things calmed down.
