There isn't a rotary phase converter made that produces three identical sine waves of voltage and current that is 120 degrees apart.
Anything other than three matching some waves cause losses inside the three phase motor.
The rotary converter is good enough for a majority of the loads , most of the time.
Fortunately most machine shop three phase motors operate at less than 100% load. There is enough reserve cooling and load capacity in the unbalanced phases to carry the load. Without the a average operator being aware.
