I'm thinking of cutting down the fleet of farm trucks and just keeping one(out of five) since i dont do much anymore. all of them are in various states of worn out. heres my choices(1) 99 silverado 3/4 ton,4x4,auto overdrive,6.something liter engine, been a fairly good truck but transmission starting to shift hard.(2) 89 gmc, four speed standard w/od,350 engine,4x4,3/4 ton, good truck but misses on one cyl since i blew and replaced head gaskets.( i suspect a collapsed lifter).(3) 79 ford 1/2 ton extended cab, plain old needs a new engine, good truck otherwise but no od so its a gas drinker.but good for hauling grandkids(4) 79 chevy swb 1/2 ton,new engine, transmission but needs lots of restoration work to make it pretty. (5) 92 ford wore out everywhere so not really in the running. any opinions? would use them mainly for hunting/fishing, light work, and occasionaly pulling a trailer with a small tractor. OR i could put a transmission in a ford escort wagon i have sitting here, get lots more mileage every day, use one of these old trucks as is if i need to, which would probably be the smart thing!LOL
