"A newbie on the crew is usually a flag person". With welding a newbie will want to weld something far beyond his capabilities. I will try to explain in simple to understand terms that they don't have enough experience or it is dangerous or illegal(like welding steering parts on a car). What really bothers me is that someone with questionable experience will come on and tell the newbie he shouldn't listen to qualified people telling him he shouldn't attempt it. When I question this bad advice and the poster, who gave it, gets mad at me or tells me off is usually when I get straight to the point. If this makes me come across as harsh or arrogant, I can live with that. I certainly don't know everything about welding but know enough to warn people when they shouldn't be attempting things beyond their capability or listening to bad advice. I rarely get harsh with the original poster because they usually accept my advice. I appreciate it very much when qualified people like Puddles and others agree with the advice I gave. Dave
