Man I feel sorry for you doc. I've done it a few times myself over the years and I never want to do it again. I've never burned mine all that bad and the potato trick has always worked for me. I've seen worse though. I worked for a man years ago that was helping me and another guy do some welding on a truck bed. The walls of his shop were white and he got his eyes burned really bad simply off the reflected light. He went to see the hospital and they gave him something to put in them, basically just to deaden the eye and ease the discomfort. From what I understood they said that was about all they could really do since it was actually just a sunburn of the eye. They also told him he needed to stay in the dark til they quit hurting, 'course his were burned so bad he couldn't stand the light anyway. So, best advice I can offer is to stay out of the light as much as possible so your eye can rest and start off trying the potato trick. If that doesn't seem to be making a difference in a few hours seek real medical help. Good luck, I feel for you.
