In posting, photo ads, or virtually any of the YT forms that let you put input into the site, the use of a backslash will either cause your input to fail, or at least, will be automatically changed to a forward slash.
This is because the backslash is a computer thing and doesn't mean anything in English. It was created by a programmer in the 60s to be an computer language operator (similar to + or - in math). Microsoft made it a lot more popular by using it for file directories on MS-DOS/Windows.
The reason it's rejected is that computer crackers and spammers, use this to try and take advantage of what it can do internally in a program or database. If left as a backslash, what it can do in a poorly managed site, is cause the site to get cracked. (cracking is the word for what the media falsely calls hacking).
Most of the time, we translate it to a real slash (/), but with hundreds of input forms on the site, there are places where I got lazy and just outright reject the input. When I find those places, I fix it, but there are still some programs that just give back a blank white screen assuming it's a spammer or cracker. It's best not to use it.
