The new photo upload is now in Modern View. It is down below the advanced posting options. If you use an old browser, you won't see it on the page, but rather, the old "Upload Photos" will appear to you within Advanced Posting Options just like before. Here are the browsers that work and will show the new photo upload

IE 10

Safari 5.1, 6.0

Chrome 23, 24, 25, 26, 27

FireFox 10, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20

Android 4.2

Android 4.2 Tablet

iPhone 5.1, 6.0

iPad 5.1, 6.0

The ones that don't work, are all Internet Explorer 9 and below. This is due to the fact that all these years, Microsoft was fighting standards in how they put their browser together. With Firefox and Chrome (plus Apple Safari) being all very standard and gaining marketshare, Internet Explorer 10 came out as a fully compliant product. Good show for Microsoft. If you run an old Internet Explorer, it's wise to upgrade anyway since you may be susceptible to too many security issues.

I was unable to test other browsers, if you use a different one, let me know what it does in detail, and I'll try to include it. Supposedly recent versions of Opera should work with how I did this, I just can't test them.

The reasons this new upload is better are:

1. You can upload all your photos in one photo file selection window. It automatically uploads them when you return to the posting form. You should still wait until the img statements appear in your post window. If you start typing, they will end up jammed in where ever your cursor is.

2. It doesn't trigger security warnings on browsers with too tight a security settings.

3. It allows up to ten photos per post.

4. It doesn't stop new users from posting photos. This may have to change, but often now, people who are first time posters are wanting to upload a photo with their question.

Give it a try. After a few days of seeing how this works, I will implement it over on Classic View too.

BTW, the thumbnails shown may be distorted, that doesn't impact the actual display of the photo in the post. Hit preview to see what the photo actually looks like.

Today's Featured Article - Trailering Your Tractor - by Curtis Von Fange. One of the fun things of summer and fall are the parades and tractor shows that go on across America. Many owners of tractors travel long distances to attend these shows and they usually take their restored iron along with them. Safe trailering practices and inspections will ensure that the event is a fun one. A good habit to develop when using a trailer is to give that ‘quick look over’ before taking it on a trip. Before hooking up to it check the tongue for proper operation. The latche ... [Read Article]
