Here's a simple way assuming it is not a 1-wire alternator. Get another toggle switch,pick-up power behind your current switch. Run it through this switch to a 2 prong chysler ballast resistor, out of the ballast to the #1 terminal of the regulator plug-in.Run a wire from #2 terminal to batttery post on rear of alternator. With 10guage wire another wire on battery post on rear of alt to the battery connection of the solenoid. Start the tractor turn on new switch it should charge. If you have an ammeter you will need to run battery wire up to it and then back to solenoid terminal.Turn off ignition it will probably continue running then turn off new switch of vice-versa this is an improper way to test alt if tractor stays runnung with ign off its charging. Also your tractor was probably positive ground originally it must be switched to neg grd and turn coil around so that neg terminal of the coil goes to the distibutor. See how much easier a 1-wire alt is.Good Luck.

Although he himself has never actually owned or restored a tractor, he was always enthusiastic and always around helping with other peoples projects.
