What do the rules allow? If you have to limit the Rpm's to 3000 forget it. The Perkins is a short stroke engine compared to the 6 cyl competition. However if that is not the case that engine will come alive if properly turbo'd if you turn it 4000-5000 rpm. Be aware that over 5000 you seriously risk crank and/or cam breakage.Also it's a real good idea to have a steel flywheel.You will also need more fuel from your pump and injectors.
