Hey guys-
I've been reading here for a couple years, and had planned on building my 70 up for a puller a year or two ago, but some things came up. Since I've read a lot on here and I guess I'm looking for answers as to if a normal guy can build the engine on like my JD 70. My dad has rebuilt an old 2-cylinder before, I think an A. Is the pulling motor I will want, be a pretty easy install? Doesn't seem like there are instructions or manuals really (I have the IT manual), but torque specs and things of that nature are hard to find.
What is typical to send off to the "engine builder"? I guess I'd be the engine assembler. I'd also like to have a ball park figure as to what it will take engine wise to make my 70 competitive in what I think will be Div 3? I haven't the slightest clue as to if its $3k, 5k, or 15k. I know you can spend pretty much as much as you want....but try to give me a decent idea if possible. Also I'd like this thing to be reliable to the point that I don't have to overhaul it every year, or work on it every weekend due to it being so "hot".
I've got some money saved up, and not sure if I've got enough or if what I got will do what I'm needing.
I think from what I've read I will probably be going with Josh Blackburn for the engine.
