- Crankcase mounting is the same from 39-52. - Heads are unique on 39-40 (different bolt pattern than later ones). - Heads from 41-52 all interchange. - Water manifold is different on 41-46 vs. 47-52 (physical shape of outlet on block is different as is function of manifold. Manifold on later ones has mounts for hood/gas tank) - 47-52 blocks don"t have tapped holes to tie the frame into the blocks like the earlier ones. Should be room at the front of the 5-2 that you could drill them yourself.
- I"ve heard people egg shaping the holes on the 39/40 head to put on later blocks. - I don"t have one here, but I was thinking the 39/40 was a POS as far as runners goes, so yes, it ups the compression, but the sacrifice is flow. - I dom"t think the 39 has provisions for pressure lube on the rockers, so guessing you"d need ro run a line from somewhere to the rockers as well.
