It was 1967, I was 21. I had bought a U Moline to Farm with, gave $100 for it. It leaked water. I worked at a Moline dealer. So had access to a lot of parts. A friend of mine had found a burnt GB LP tractor for parts. He just wanted the rear end. So we split the cost, $250 apeace. I really lucked out, the motor was perfect, and had MW pistons. Put this motor in my U (423 cubic in) They had a U on the lot with widned rims and almost new 15.5 Firestones. Let me trade, tires for tires. First pull, got beat by a MW crank M. but I got second. Just 3 in Class. Was Wayne City Il. Bean days. Just had a tractor pull for a few years. Oh was a step on sled, we called them Lizzards. What they put oil field trucks on to pull them into drilling rigs. Pulled a 4010 next. Then a 1750 Minnie Rod. Waited 20 yrs, then built a 366 cu. WC Allis. Pulling a 435 JD now. For some reason if I get the weights right it will win anywhere. If not Last! I'm trying to build a Killer D17 Allis Diesel, to pull against those pesky 77 Olivers and 460 IHC. But can't seem to find time to work on it. :-) Vic
