+1 on what has been already posted. I would add two things. One being you do NOT need to fret and worry about removing 100% of the existing paint from the castings. While I do not advocate half arsed prep work it is just plain a waste of time, money and effort to remove 100% of the paint from the castings. If you want to do it fine but it does not add to the integrity of the job. Number two is where ever the castings are oil soaked such as around drain plugs, gaskets or any other leaks you need to be certain to get rid of all the oil. The test for those places is a spray can of brake cleaner. If you get dark run off you aren't done yet.
