I have a hay hauling truck with a steel tilt up deck built mostly out channel iron that needs new paint. Originally it was painted with just a cheap aklyd rust paint from a hardware store. Its been on there over ten years as was direct to metal which at the time was new (rust free) but not sand blasted. It held its color pretty good being stored inside but is now peeling away and metal rusting.
This time I'm getting it sand blasted and primed with something. As for top coat what would be the way to go? Tractor implement paint from CIH or the more $$ single stage Acrylic Enamel or Acrylic urethane automotive finishes?
This truck is shedded when not in use and doesn't get many miles a year put on it (under 9,000 miles a year)but we do have salty roads in the winter at times. I'm a little leary going all out with a urethane system as it gets lots of rock chips, scratches and general wear and tear on the deck part every season that would need touching up from time to time.
