I'll vouch for the axle problem. In app. 1980 or 81 we had it happen to a 105, in early May, in the middle of the field, with about 400 gal of Treflan mix in the saddle tanks, and a thunderstorm brewing up. We were able to get it tight enough to get to the road, before it sunk in the mud. We were soaked, muddy and pissed. Next day Dad made the trip to Omaha to get a new axle for it. I'll differ on the engine quality though. The Perkins is about the hardest starting engine there is when cold. We hated it. Currently own a 100 with the Cummins, and really like that.
