I think it's your neutral switch. There are two wires that come down from under the dash on the right hand side,go under the cast cowl and in to the top of the transmission. They have spade type connectors on them. Try sliding those connectors out and back in. I don't know what I did to my 1550 when I had it apart last summer to rebuild the 3pt cylinder,but I ended up making a jumper wire to hook the two together that came down from the dash,to complete the curcuit. Before you go that far,just slap the heck out of the shift.
