Hello smokeshow. I'm guessing from what you told me that you removed the complete LPTO from the back and inspected it from there. Yes I think that the swap may be easier depending on if your parts tractor tranny, diff etc. is all in working order and where you plan to split it. Do both tractors have the creeper gear?? If you're going to try and change the pinion out I really think a manual would be a good idea. Probabley a good idea either way. I have a copy of an old original I got off ebay and it goes into quite a bit of detail on this subject. Parts book I could probably Email you if your intrested. Hope this helps you. Rocko.
