4340? hydraulic lift 3 wheel rubber, hubs are loose on axles. Pulled the land wheel hub off, reshimmed, everything looked good. Pulled the furrow wheel hub off, lube was a mix of grease, sand, and metal. Hub has chewed the shaft 1/4" at the inside edge, hub bearing surface is ground out, there was a split bearing installed at one time that I fished out of the grease pocket so this was an issue before. I'm assuming the correct repair involves having the shaft welded and ground (no way anyone around here can lathe that big S curved shaft), and the hub bored and sleeved.
So, 1.What is the shaft made of? 2.I have a lathe and could bore the hub myself, anyone know where to buy sleeves (somehow I don't think my usual trick of machining down thick wall pipe is gonna work here), 3. Anyone know a shop in MI (I'm over by Port Huron) that can repair the axle?

Although he himself has never actually owned or restored a tractor, he was always enthusiastic and always around helping with other peoples projects.
