At first glance this may sound like I am tootin my own horn. In reality it is a tribute to the values Dad taught me while he was alive. I'm retired, live on lakeshore property. A few years ago got new owners of a property a few doors away, to be their summer weekend retreat. Nice people, exchanged small talk on occasion. Their first Christmas season I happened to see them shoveling out the driveway, so fired up the tractor & plowed driveway, also used smaller blower to do walkway to house. They explained that her parents lived nearby, her Dad was terminally sick, wanted to be close by. She tried to give me large cash payment, that it is nice not to have to worry about snow. I refused the cash, told her that is what neighbors do, especially when they have other stress. His response really hit home. He said " we have people living close by, but have never had real neighbors". Turned out to be good friends. They come up a lot for ice fishing, so when plowing my drive I swing up theirs too, only takes 10-15 minutes. Always rewarded with homemade christmas cookies, & a can of gas for tractor. That's reward enough. Willie
