Interesting topic and I am always interested in making life easier.
Last year I made two Holz Hausen's (German Wood House.) While interesting, I doubt if I will do more. As the wood dried it shifted enough that some areas collapsed. On the other hand, I did learn a few things so maybe I'd have better luck next time. Each contained about 6 face cords if I remember right, they did go up quick and dried fast.
