I put all new gaskets on my 390 Ford this spring with the help of my friend who is the best mechanic I have ever known. He cut his teeth on 60s and 70s Mustangs and Highboy trucks. Had to do a valve job on it and valve guide seals too. Here is how he did it. On all gasket surfaces he used a drill with hard plastic paint remover wheel, not the grit kind as it would be a big no no. It was fast and easy and made the surfaces shine. On the head gaskets he sprayed both sides with Permatex Copper Gasket spray per instructions. Dropped heads on. When we were done, fired it up put some block builders stop leak tablets in the radiator and she is all sealed up.
