I'm less familiar with the Ns than I am the later fords. But since the same thrust bearing fits all the smaller Fords from 1948-1964 I'm sure it does not press in. It's just a slip fit. They do get rusted and mashed in there and can be hard to get out. If you are having trouble getting the old one out I would try it first with a good cold chisel and see what you can do that way. Otherwise it's time to break out the smoke wrench. When you reinstall the new one the cover of the bearing goes to the top - so it sheds any water that might leak down into there.
