This 2N has a flaky gear lever. it can pop out of place I much have got the thing stuck back in wrong so it operated like a latch and held the starter switch closed. I had no idea anything was wrong except the machine didn't have the oomph it had before. luckily I only drove it a short distance before I saw the Ammeter as pinned showing full load + so I shut off the ignition immediately and the engine kept turning over via the starter and I yanked a battery cable off to stop it. Don't think there was any damage except I think the ammeter is fried now.
Do I have to take all those castings and steering apart to get at the shifter and start switch ? how much time should I set aside? in the books it looks like there could be a retaining ring missing from the bottom of the shifter lever and I think someone else said that too.
