We discussed these things a couple months ago. My buddy had a new Mig Welder he was itching to try out and asked if I had a project for him. Indeed I did. I sent him some pics from this site and drew up the specs. I bought him some flat and angle iron and we went to work. This is what we came up with. It will hold two Milk crates or just one crate with my wood cutting supplies in the crate and my saw next to it. The 'floor' of the tool box is steel sheet mesh. Another thing I will use it for is to hold a few stone blocks to counterbalance the bush hog when I'm mowing the meadow.
The weight of the box is evenly distributed along the top horizontal rail of the bumper by using an angle iron brace on the back side of the box. It's held in place by two heavy duty hooks. The floor of the box rests on the bumper hitch, and a 5/16" bolt, large flat washers and a wing nut hold it securely in place.
