1950 as in the early 50 with front mount distributor or the later with side mount?? Can make a difference as to how to fix. Also 6 or 12 volts?? This may sound wrong but check your spark and make sure it is a good blue/white and will jump a 1/4 inch gap or more. If you have that then pull the carb drain plug and let the fuel flow for a few minutes. Catch it so as to look for water/dirt etc. As for carb seeing the idle screw which is close the the top of the carb set it at 1-1/2 turns out. The main jet set at 2 full turns out. By the way just because a carb was rebuilt does not mean it was done so correctly and it could still have some junk in it clogging the main jety
