I am rebuilding a 1948 8N with a front mount distributor and it has been converter to 12 volts. When I took the oil pan off, there was the remains of a part in the oil pan. The part appeared to have been there for quite some time. The part was about 2 inches in diameter, has a about a 1 5/8 D shaped hole. The part is about .080 inches thick. A small section appears to been broken off. The tractor ran fine before the tear down except it was burning considerable oil. I have not been able to identify the part by looking through the parts manual. Does any one have any idea where this part came from and what it is called ? Thank You !
