If you have a "block and tackle" like the photo here...
You can place rope in front and rear of the hood and hoist it up.
I have a block and tackle in my garage bolted to a beam in the garage attic, so I can lift as much as least 800 pounds. I move the tractor under the hoist and remove the hood, leaving the hood hanging above the tractor. I move the tractor back some six feet and lower the hood. A one man operator.
