Chris: As the others have said, there is little to be gained for normal (non competition) tractor usage by modifying the 8N engine. That said, you should try to maximize compression by using the correct parts. Replacement pistons are available both flat-topped and slightly domed. The domed ones are good for nearly 3HP and cause no interference with the stock cylinder head. You may also wish to deck the block slightly and clean up the head surface. Do not take much material off of either or you will have interference problems. Compression translates closely into torque, and this is what you need for a tractor engine. Dean
