Dude2..........you do realize the N-Engine is supposed to idle at a very SLOOOooow 400rpms, don't you? And to ears used to modern econ-box sewing machine engines or belchfire V-8's, 400rpms is deadslow and yer high idlespeed that don't die is probably 600-700rpms and working on the mainjet instead of the CLOGGED idlejet. Modern no-lead gasoline is notorious for evaporating and leaving gummed deposits in tiny idlejet holes in tractors that haven't been run for a while. (many use "Stabl" additive to prevent gumming in seldom used gas vehicles) You may be looking at a carburator clean-out and rebuild. But FIRST learn how to adjust yer carb. Both Ford and Marvel/Schebler say to adjust BOTH the side-pointing idlemix and the down-pointing mainjet to 1-turn as starting point. I adjust the down-pointing mainjet to 1-1/2 turn and LEAVITT!!! I then adjust the side-pointing idlemix for maximum idle rpms; NOT SMOOTHEST IDLE; maximum idle rpms. Understand? I then adjust the behind the carb idlespeed for as slow as I can. (ennythang under 500rpms is probably close) I do the idle max speed song'n'dance at least 3-times. My side-pointing idlespeed is usually about 3/8-turn; yours will be DIFFERENT, understand? Remember, side-pointing idlemix is BASSACKWARDS; out for lean; IN for INRICH.........Dell
