2 collegues and I were in Portland in 1990. We drove into the area and we were amazed at the destruction that we could see. There was some new life emerging. Later in the week we hired a pilot and plane to fly us up to the mountain. It was fogged in all week until the day before we were to come home. The destruction was still very prevelant and totally amazing. Once large trees looked like toothpicks laying side by side, for miles.
