I did a 3/4 acre pond last year. County checked out the amount of area the pond would receive water from, checked to see that I had proper overflow should drain pipe not be enough. I received information from the State concerning the best type of fish to stock and a complete information packet on problems and solutions to pond care. Pond was dug 14' deep to allow for about 2' of run in dirt when it was filling. Due to a lot of rain after it was dug and a very rainy spring it was filled by spring. Due to my brother-in-law filling in his lake we were stocked with large mouth bass and blue gills all of good size. We also brought in fish from another lake to give a genetic diverse population. We had to hand feed last year while filling but after the spring spawn we are just fine. Grand kids put in turtles and frogs, it is great. We left one end with a shallow pitch for them to swim in also and added sand to that area. Good luck, Dave OH
