Matt First, you don't say anything about having trouble with your system now. So why change? Second you end up with something of a bast--- stepchild. You have to try to tweak your regulator so it charges an 8V battery rather than 6V. Alittle too much here and you fry a coil, a little too much there and you fry points, not quite enogh someplace else and you have unreliable starting etc etc etc. So why change? The 6V system is totally capable of satisfactory performance if properly maintained. My 8N started this morning at 17 below zero with nothing more than a little grunt to get going. As my Grampa used to say, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it?" FWIW IMHO
