Dave, Once you have disconnected the batery cable and the two bolts that hold the starter in place tilt the starter down and inward toward the engine block. This will allow your bendix assembly to clear the the flywheel and it will come out. I was able to get it to come off without having to reemove the oil filter or anything else. To install reverse and repeat the process. hope this helps.
