I read a tip on holding the valve up while changing the seal. Remove the spark plug and feed a number of feet of nylon rope into the cylinder while the piston is down and then bring the piston up with the rope on top of it to hold the valve up. I have never tried it but when I have used air I always had trouble getting the keepers loose and not loosing pressure when the valve would move down. I found a link where someone used the nylon rope on a car engine.
