I recently bought a 2N that has a 12v alternator and a 12 volt coil mounted on the side of the block. The original coil is still in place with a hole in the front. Two wires run through this hole one from the center of the coil and I believe one from the small terminal on the coil. The battery will not hold a charge and the engine will not start, when jumped, or with a shot of ether. I question if this arrangement ever worked. The previous owner was a non-mechanical lawyer that said he always pulled it to get started. So, where do I start? What voltage should I have at the wire that goes into the coil? points open / points closed. Any help appreciated. The wife wants to know if it was such a good why won't it start?? Thanks
Sam
