I am working on the rear axle of my UTU and need the shim gaskets for the seal retainer. What do you all use for shim material? The thinnest gasket material at napa is 1/64th or .015". Notebook paper is thinner, but I do not trust that it will seal out the oil and I don"t want to do this job again. I could call and get the real shim gaskets, but I am sure they are 4-5 days away. Is notebook paper good enough if I dope it with some silicone gasket sealant (Yes, I know, some of you hate the stuff, but I have never had a problem if used correctly). Do any of you make your own steel shims? Or just wait for it and order the good stuff?
